SSC CGL Exam is one of the toughest exam in India. It is conducted by staff selection commission which is a government body for the recruitment of eligible candidates in Central Government Departments & Ministries with lucrative salary structure & several perks.

How SSC CGL is Getting Tougher Every Year?
2016 has been a year of changes for SSC CGL exam. Applicants faced several changes in exam scheme, exam dates, no. of posts, age limit. Most of these changes were unpleasant & were unexpected for CGL applicants.
This year important announcements were made regarding SSC CGLE which are as follows:
1. Added Assistant audit officer post in SSC CGLE- It is a gazetted post
2. Exclusion of interview from the selection procedure.
3. Tier 1 & 2 will be held for SSC CGL exam. Taking in account the large no. of applicants, ssc cgl exam tier 1 will be online & qualifying in nature.
4. The age limit will stay 18 to 27 years. The new age limit will be effective from 2017.
5. Exam postponed twice & now it will be conducted in August 2016.

The number of applicants is increasing enormously every year. In 2011 about 6 lakh candidates took the CGLE. There were 13000 posts announced in 2011.
In 2012 there were 9 lakh candidates who appeared in CGL exam. 19000 posts were offered through SSC CGL 2012.
In 2013 around 12 lakh candidates appeared in SSC CGL exam. There were around 23000 vacancies announced under CGLE 2013.
In 2014 around 14 lakh candidates appeared in the SSC CGL exam.
In 2015, 1.7 million candidates appeared in the SSC CGLE. After tier1+2+3 only 15000 candidates got job.
In 2016 35 lakh candidates are going to appear in Combined Graduate Level exam for around 3815 posts(estimated).
